Back by popular demand, the Memphis Flyers are a local 3 piece band playing the best rockabilly from the Fifties.  Your feet will be tapping to the rock 'n' roll rhythm, with a bit of hillbilly/country thrown in for good measure!

Street entertainment by the Christchurch band, Doctor Johnston, bouncy castle (weather permitting) and face painting in Vicarage Fields.

Children's Medieval Art Workshop

Come along, get creative and prepare yourself for next week's fancy dress parade - make a medieval crown, shield, flags and banners or even a dragon costume if you dare!

Opening Concert

St Mary's Church, High Street, Hailsham

We are delighted to welcome the High Sheriff of East Sussex, Mrs Kathy Gore who will be official open the festival, accompanied by the Mayor of Hailsham, Mr Jeff Bentley Astor.  This will be followed by a concert by 'Contraband' a highly popular East Sussex band performing, in their own unique style, a mixture of rhythmic folk and world music.

Refreshments and light lunches will be serviced in the refectory afterwards

RAZZLE DAZZLE
8pm Hailsham Pavilion (Friday 9th and Saturday 10th September)

Hailsham Theatres proudly presents Razzle Dazzle - an evening of singing, dancing and comedy sketches featuring local talent including a group from Hailsham Community College.

Sunday 11th September
Preview of the Festival Art Exhibition at Gallery North
3pm to 5pm
Gallery North, 70 High Street, Hailsham

Featuring a series of paintings by award winning portrait artist Jean-Paul Tibbles. Other artists including Amanda Rackowe, Gordon Brady and Michael Johnson from Chalais, France and a trio of artists from Gournay-en-Bray, Hailsham's twin town.

Also showing; Pamela Schofield, Mary Beaney, Graham Binks, Josie Tipler, Felicity Price-Smith, Tony Spencer, Maureen Brown, Ruth Bodkin, Mary Murphy and Carolyn Shepherd.

The Secret Art Sale wall of art will be on show for the first time, paintings available for purchase on Friday 16 September, The Gallery will also be open on Sunday 17 September from 10am to 4pm.

Festival exhibition runs until Saturday 22 October - opening hours Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm

'The Pre-Raphaelites and The Victorians'

An analysis of the Pre-Raphaelite movement in Victorian England, How far did Art reflect Society?

A fully illustrated talk, accessible and informative for anyone interested in art and history.

Friday 16th September

Calling all children!
St George's Parade and Show
10.30am meet at Vicarage Field, Hailsham Town Centre and parade through the town to the Hailsham Pavilion.

Ending with a performance by Rapport youth singing ensemble  



Meeting at Vicarage Fields for the fancy dress parade - the theme is England through the age.

Wear your finest robes and crowns, wave your flag high through the town and parade down to the Hailsham Pavilion.  Learn about the history of England with St George, songs, games, puppets and listen to the Rapport youth singing ensemble, entertaining you with a mixture of familiar songs.

A lively, entertaining evening of music and dance.
The Lyra Dancers perform traditional Greek dances in colourful authentic costumes representing the many different regions of the country.
Kalamos will offer you a taste of Greek culture with variety of traditional musical instruments and also some new and original acoustic music, based on folk traditions.

Dirk Campbell from Kalamos is an established composer and musician.  His work has featured on numerous TV, radio and theatre productions.
Lyra have performed at festivals, international competitions and even on Channel 4's Paul O'Grady Show...this show is not to be missed.
